The locking tab must stay attached to the connector base. STEP 9 Remove two screws securing the cooling fan. Unplug the fan cable from the motherboard.
Remove the heat sink. STEP 11 Remove two screws securing the video card. The video card will pop up at a degree angle. Carefully pull the video card from the slot by the edges. Remove all screws from the bottom case.

Place the touch pad upside down on the palm rest. Disconnect the touch pad cable from the motherboard. Remove the touch pad. STEP 14 Start removing the keyboard bezel with a small screwdriver.

Unsnap three wireless card antenna cables from the wireless card. Unroute the wireless card antenna cables. STEP 18 Remove six screws securing the top cover assembly.

This particular drive was split into two partitions. Gateway 8510 ATI Display folks may like to reclaim this space, but I think that including it is a nice touch. When you boot the GZ it prompts you whether you want to go into the recovery console. I checked it out, and it looks a lot like a SUSE Linux install — very clean and easy to understand options.
You can opt for a full restore with format or a system Gateway 8510 ATI Display old files backed-up. The recovery partition is adequately protected from accidental deletion. It is relatively quiet when reading and writing. I would have liked to see MB, but I guess compromises had to be made in order to hit a price point. It looks good in natural light, but might cause a headache in an office environment. The refresh rate was very good when watching movies and playing games.
